Welcome to Glenview! Yes, we perform our masonry and tuckpointing services in the Village of Glenview, an area that couldn't decide on its name. The first name it received was South Northfield, which morphed into North Branch, and Oak Glen in 1878. There were two other attempts to rename the vill...

Does anyone know who William Sayre was, I bet not many of you do! He was the first settler of Montclare, Chicago's community area located on the N-W side of the Windy City. He was also the first guy who got married in Montclare... I know that doesn't matter much, what does is that we service Mont...

If you’ve been in Chicago for a few decades, you probably remember collapsing porch accident headlines, many of them. Those accidents triggered more thorough porch inspections by the Chicago building department, and most likely saved lives and a lot of broken bones. Although building inspectors k...

Do you know what Kitchi-wap choku means? It's a Potawatomi (a Native American people of the Great Plains) term meaning "great marsh". And what that has to do with anything? Well, it's possible that the name of "Skokie", one of the Chicago suburbs we provide our masonry services, was derived from ...

Peter and his crew did a fantastic job with replacing our worn chimney. Peter was great with clear estimation, straight forward proposal and answering my questions. The crew arrived on time and worked throughout the day to take the old chimney down and replace it with well crafted new brick chimney. The crew really knows their trade, took great care in setting up scaffolding around trees and shrubs. They cleaned up afterwards on the roof and ground. The whole job was done in a day!

I needed my chimney tuckpointed. The crew came out at 8am, were finished in a few hours. They were professional and cleaned the job site afterwards. You can see the before and after, with a new cap and everything. Great job guys. Well worth the cost.

Edmar did a great job repointing the stonework on the front of our house. We requested quotes from a few companies, and they were the only ones who even responded. They were very communicative and did a great job. When we do the other sides of our house, we'll definitely call them.

Serving Chicago & Suburbs Since 1985

EDMAR Corporation Masonry started serving customers in Chicago and surrounding suburbs in 1985. Decades of tough masonry work on variety of Chicago brick, stone, and cinderblock structures, helped us build great reputation and become a respected, family owned, local business.

Our line of services that originally included tuckpointing and repointing only, has expanded significantly and now includes multitude of mostly masonry related services, as well as concrete replacement (sidewalks, driveways, stairs, and retaining walls), and rebuilding of Chicago porches so they comply with local building codes.

Just to mention some of EDMAR masonry services (and they short descriptions) performed on residential and commercial Chicagoland’s structures:

  • Tuckpointing – removing of loose and cracked mortar and replacing it with new one.
  • Repointing – cutting out mortar (approximately ¾” deep) from between the masonry units such as bricks, stone, or CMU blocks, and replacing it with new mortar.
  • Parapet Wall Rebuilding – dismantling and rebuilding of compromised brick and cinder block parapet walls. Parapet walls are extensions of the building’s exterior walls that project above roof surfaces (usually flat // low slope roofs).
  • Lintel Replacement Above Masonry Wall Openings (such as doors or windows) – process involves partial dismantling of a wall directly above compromised lintel. Removing of an old and installation of a new, corrosion proofed lintel. Such replacement also includes installation of flashing, drip edge, termination bar, and weeps to ensure proper moisture drainage from the inner wall.
  • Brick Wall Rebuilding – dismantling and restoring / rebuilding of a compromised, partial or entire wall structure, to its original shape and condition.
  • Chimney Rebuilding – partial or complete restoration of chimney structures made of bricks, stone, or cement blocks. That also includes installation of new custom crowns made of concrete, precast concrete, or limestone blocks.
  • Waterproofing of Brick and CMU Block Walls – sealer application on portions of or on entire buildings, associated with spot-pointing process (filling with mortar any open mortar joints) .
  • Replacement of glass blocks or glass block windows – we simply remove broken blocks or entire windows and replace them with new units.
  • Flashing Installation Under the Door & Window Sills – removing of limestone sills, installation of through the wall flashing materials and re-installation of previously removed, or new sills.

We always perform estimates free of charge for property owners, so you can call our office and schedule an appointment, no strings attached. Read our customer testimonials below, on Yelp, BBB, visit EDMAR Facebook page Follow us on Twitter or watch some of our video clips on YT
